The ideal floor for century buildings

As part of the extension of the National Museum in Zurich, the old building was also renovated and extended. Walo Bertschinger AG was commissioned with part of the flooring work. The two-layer SURFATEX® terrazzo flooring chosen by the planners for the forecourt is just as diverse as the history and culture of Switzerland. This seamless, finely polished flooring meets both aesthetically and technically high specifications and has proven itself over thousands of years. An extremely appropriate choice, as it is a natural building material whose durability is as convincing as its liveliness and elegance. Indoors, our SURFATEX® complements the historic terrazzo found in existing buildings. As part of a simpler material language, a high-quality DURATEX® hard concrete floor covering was installed in the basement. For the outdoor areas, the choice fell on a newly developed expressive mastic asphalt called "Feldweg", for which a new formulation was developed and which now surrounds the water feature and the green areas.
