Project description

The Galgenbuck Tunnel in the canton of Schaffhausen has a total length of 1,138m. After about two and a half years of driving, the breakthrough took place in February 2016.
Once again, precision work and pinpoint preparation were required. The position of the main heading as well as the two small counter heading tunnels was systematically checked and the accuracy of the breakthrough was in the centimeter range.

Special features

Since the start of the tunnelling work in July 2013, an average of two to three blasts were carried out per day. A total of around 120,000m3 of rock material was excavated and around 1,700t of steel and 26,000m3 of concrete were used in the tunnel. However, the tunnel breakthrough and the end of the blasting and construction work are only a further stage. On the last 125m to the portal Bahntal in the area of the counter heading tunnels, the widening of the entire tunnel cross section was carried out.
