Energy Network Regensdorf – A Unique Collaboration

The Energy Network Regensdorf project delivers not only sustainable energy but also a unique and collaborative partnership.

The project

The Energy Network Regensdorf is being implemented as a project alliance, with WALO playing a key role as the construction company. In this collaborative approach, the participating companies share responsibility to efficiently and sustainably realise the district heating network. The project is based on CO₂-neutral district heating, using waste heat from local data centres to provide environmentally friendly heating for buildings in Regensdorf. Connection to the network offers a forward-looking, ecological heating solution and contributes to the reduction of fossil fuels. Together with the client and engineering firm, the district heating lines are scheduled to be operational from 2026.

Facts

  • Weekly coordination meetings

  • 16.720 km of pipelines DN 450 to DN 25

  • 45,400 m³ of excavation

Collaboration and Planning

The district heating project in Regensdorf is realised through agile collaboration between the client, engineers, and the construction company. All meetings are held virtually via Teams, using the agile tool "Build Agil" and a ticketing system. Planning, approvals, and material procurement are flexibly coordinated, and traffic management is discussed with the municipality. This integrated approach allows for efficient and cost-effective implementation, as the construction company is involved early in the planning phase to develop solutions jointly.
